How to access Windows VM on CREODIAS
There are several available options for accessing a Windows VM on CREODIAS cloud and the two – SPICE and RDP, stand out as the fastest and the easiest to use.
First of all you need to use Console from Horizon dashboard (https://cf2.cloudferro.com/project/instances/) to enter password for your windows user: “Administrator”
You then see the characteristic Windows background image.
Click on the “Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete”
Now click on “Sign in” (operating the mouse arrow is tricky, because you will see 2 arrows (not visible on the above screenshot). Unfortunately, Windows graphical mode is not fully compatible with Spice (Linux doesn’t have this issue).
For the best experience with mouse pointing we recommend to start from a corner (i.e right bottom) and do slow moves. Your patient will be revarded soon. Just after you enter your new administrator password - you may forget about this console and start using RDP (Remote Desktop) without any mismath. But if you decide to continue using SPICE, at the bottom of this page there is a 3-clicks manual how to solve this problem. Just you need to logon to Windows desktop first.
and now “OK”
Unfortunately the SPICE console will not accept keyboard at this stage.
You have to click Cancel.
And click on Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete again:
Now you can enter new password.
When you set up new password, press Enter.
From now you will be able to access VM using RDP protocol (user: Administrator).
If you decide to continue using SPICE at the moment, to fix doubled mouse cursors issue - please login into Windows desktop and follow these two steps:
Run mouse setup (from Control Panel or just click on search icon on a task bar, type: main.cpl and press Enter)
Turn off (unclick) Enchance pointer precision, click Apply**button and close window with **OK.
Now, both mouse cursors will follow each other smoothly.
